David St. Romain is an unproven commodity in country music so far. He has ran the ranks of co-writing and studio playing, but now he is ready to emerge on his own and try his hand and knocking 'em dead in concert and on the radio.
St. Romain's first single "That's Love" hit country radios on October 19 and the singer's country career, five years in the making, is ready to see the start and move up the charts. The song is a throwback to some 70s and 80s country rock of Bryan Adams and Don Henley, and the guitar and mature vocal sounds like it could have come straight out of the Eagles and Hotel California.
The song isn't young country, but it appeals to a universal theme of love, and the melodies, lyrics and obvious performing talent of St. Romain appeal to the just as universal theme of good music. The song is about doing things for other people, taking chances and being selfless, and, according to St. Romain, "that's love."
The 28-year-old from Baton Rouge has served his time out of the spotlight: he released an widely un-acclaimed album was released in 2001, titled "DSR;" the singer has played studio musician on bass; has toured the small venues of the country and even played a stint on the Nashville Star talent show. He has been working with some of Nashville's top songwriters and the singer appears to have hit his stride with "That's Love."
Whether a rock 'n' roll influenced throwback, or the real St. Romain that fans can expect to hear, "That's Love" is stamped with the kind of craftsmanship, talent and promise as a veteran like Pat Green, and at 28, St. Romain is a newcomer ready to connect with fans and make some hits.
